ABOUT SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL PROJECT

 

     PROJECT was started by Dr. Rc SARAVANABHAVAN, Professor Emeritus, Howard University,U.S.A. Mrs.Devika Kulasekaran (District Coordinator of Teacher Training) and Mr. A. Baskaran (Headmaster, PUMS Muluvi) are serving as Co - Principal Investigators of this Project.

   

   The Successful Schools Project (SSP) is proposed to  implement  a whole school development. Based on the principles of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and research findings from similar school improvement projects world-wide, SSP will involve the school and its community along with the government educational offices at the district and block levels and develop step-by-step activities. For the initial period of three years, the project will focus on three randomly chosen schools in Yercaud area. The State Project Director of SSA in Chennai and the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) Mrs. A. GnanaGowri in Salem have been appraised and they have given their approval for us to work with the three schools. The Salem CEO has also delegated Mrs. Devika Kulasekaran to serve as the Co - Principal Investigator in this project. We have visited the Schools Thrice in the last two years (2015-2016) and have built support from the principals, teachers, and community representatives including parents. Currently, we have completed a survey among parents; similar surveys with teachers and headmasters are underway. Findings from these surveys will provide us with both general and specific needs for each school and its pupils.
